A FREE Seminar to Discover the New Features in Microsoft Office 2007®

Be prepared to step out of the "Office Comfort Zone" when you have made the decision to upgrade your Office software to version 2007. Microsoft Office® as we have come to know and love it has changed radically. Heading the list of changes in all of the Office 2007 programs is the new user interface, which will require extensive staff retraining. Gone are the days of pull down menus and toolbars which are replaced with the ribbon interface. The ribbon interface changes depending on a user's particular task. The ribbon is broken down by several top-level tabs which organizes the commands in various groups. The commands grouped in each ribbon include buttons, boxes (text boxes, check boxes, etc.) and galleries.

The galleries include a set of predefined, often graphical choices which support live preview. Live preview allows you to point to a gallery choice and see its effect without actually selecting the choice. This is one of the most powerful new features in all of the Office programs.

The Office button and the Quick Access toolbar may cause some confusion among end users. These tools include some of the commands that were found on the Office File Menu in previous versions. The Quick Access Toolbar is located above the ribbon and provides easy access to frequently used commands. It can also be customized to suite your needs.

ScreenTips are now enhanced with an on-screen note that provides the name of the command, available keyboard shortcuts, a description of the command, and sometimes instructions.

Office 2007 also introduces new file formats, although Microsoft has taken great pains to alleviate potential document incompatibilities between different versions of Office.  The new file formats end with a four digit extension rather than the three digit extension of the past. Office 2007 can open and read files created in earlier versions and can save as an older file format easily.

There are many enhanced features and functional benefits to be gained in a Microsoft Office 2007 upgrade; however, you must plan on some retraining to maximize the gains. We hope that you will consider attending our FREE Office 2007 Open House on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 10:00AM and at 2:00PM. We are also offering focus sessions beginning in January of 2008, which emphasize the new features of Office 2007.
