The Training Center Announces Microsoft SharePointŪ 2003 Training Fall 2007
| Microsoft SharePointŪ is the new platform for collaboration, productivity, and the foundation for Microsoft Office System. The new 2007 Microsoft Office System is now comprised of a collection of applications, servers, and services that work together to make information sharing more effective and facilitate business decision-making processes. In an organization, data may exist as documents, e-mail messages, system data, reports, analytics, or any other format. It is this type of information that individuals use to support a business process or make business decisions. SharePoint is the core component and framework that provides the foundation on which information solutions are built. |
 |
SharePointŪ 2007 is made up of two main products: Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and SharePoint Server 2007. Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 is a set of add-on services for the Microsoft Windows Server platform (Windows 2003 and later) and includes resources necessary to build information management and collaboration solutions. It also supplies web-based document management, team collaboration, and information sharing capabilities, and is the platform used for developing information that workers can utilize.
 |
SharePoint Server 2007 extends the capabilities provided by Windows SharePoint Services through the integrated set of services that allow organizations to create enterprise business solutions. This would be used in medium to large sized companies that want to bring people, information, systems, and business together through document and records management, extended workflow capabilities, extranet and Internet portal templates, enterprise-wide search capabilities, personalized content and alerting, and extended application integration. |
| This is such a valuable tool because in today's work environment information management and business processes are often very "people centric". Companies rely on individuals' knowledge of available information and on manual business processes to address many needs. This causes organizations to become reliant on specific individuals to complete certain tasks and makes it difficult to allow others to participate in these areas. Finding information can be challenging. Individuals without knowledge of information that is available will often require a significant amount of time to find necessary information or will, in some cases, re-create materials already available. Trying to build solutions to simplify and automate business processes and the information management environment can be costly and difficult to create and maintain. By leveraging Microsoft Office System technologies, including SharePoint 2007, organizations are able to create business solutions in a more timely and cost-effective manner. |

PowerPoint: Create an agenda slide in a presentation to list the primary sections of your slide show. By inserting hyperlinks on the items of the agenda slide, you will be able to jump to the section or custom show and return to the agenda slide without having to display the entire presentation.
Excel: A macro can be stored in a specific workbook or in the Personal Macro Workbook. Macros stored in a specific workbook can only be used by other workbooks when that workbook is open. The Personal Macro Workbook automatically opens when you start Excel; therefore, macros stored in this workbook are available to all files.
Word: Creating watermarks is easy to do in Word. Click on the Format Menu, point to the "Background" command, click on "Printed Watermark". In the dialog box, click the "Select Picture" button and click on the picture file you want inserted. You can also enable the "Wash Out" feature to fade the graphic.
 |
Add interesting fills to enclosed objects in all Office Applications: Make an enclosed graphic very interesting by choosing the Fill Effects command in the Fill Color color palette on the drawing toolbar. Choose from a variety of fill options such as gradients, patterns, textures, or picture options. |
